I’m pleased to share that I have begun a new consultancy with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a subject matter expert in aeronautical meteorology.

Internally, this role supports IATA's MET ad hoc task force plus other groups and initiatives addressing weather and climate issues. Externally, this role supports IATA’s engagement with stakeholders including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on subjects such as digital transformation, aeronautical MET integration, and aircraft-based observations.

This consultancy builds naturally on a collaboration that has been taking place with IATA in recent months delivering a socio-economic benefits study on airlines charges for aeronautical MET services. (See news item here for more information.)

Together, these collaborations strengthen the mission of Greg Brock Consulting which is, inter alia, to help aviation stakeholders better understand how to integrate weather and climate intelligence into their decision‑making so that the aviation ecosystems operates safer, smarter and more sustainably.

I look forward to contributing to discussions, both locally and globally, that shape how meteorological and climatological information and services are designed, developed, governed and used across the aviation user community, especially the airlines.
